Unless impaired, most individuals can choose to exercise on a regular basis. The preferred routines and the way in which exercising is approached can differ dramatically, especially when sensory preference is addressed.
Left Frontal Lobe- Decision-based exercise
- Emphasize control, precision, regularity, and goal achievement
- May become an exercisaholic
- Competitive - wants to WIN
- May gravitate toward golf, skeet, tennis, skiing, running, racquetball, jogging
| Right Frontal Lobe- Spontaneity-based exercise
- Emphasize high-risk, thrilling, adventurous, or unusual exercise activities
- Often sporadic rather than regular
- May compete with self or others based on type of activity and other personal brain characteristics
- May gravitate toward skeet, spelunking, skiing, hiking, biking, swimming, walking

Left Posterior Lobes - Schedule or prescription-based exercise
- Emphasize team orientation, rules and regulations, and habitual activities
- May gravitate toward aerobics, routines, health club membership, fitness class, baseball
| Right Posterior Lobes - Collegiality-based exercise
- Emphasize “fun” exercise with friends (conversation must be involved)
- May gravitate toward jazzercise, dancing, exercise to music or in concert with a video presentation
