altSelf-esteem has to do with how much a person respects, honors, likes, and assigns value to himself/herself. Your personal level of global and/or specific self-esteem is thought to be established by about the age of three based on:

  • What others said to you
  • What you heard others say about you
  • How you were treated by others

Your level of self-esteem can certainly be changed in adulthood but it takes dedicated work and constant vigilance.

Obviously, life experiences can and do impact one’s level of self-esteem. Personal brain lead can also influence the type of activities that increase one’s perception of personal self-worth or, in their absence, can decrease one’s perception of personal value. Following are examples.

altPrioritizing Division

altEnvisioning Division

  • Be in charge
  • Make decisions and delegate

  • Be recognized for an ability to get things done

Self-esteem levels may fall when the reverse is true

  • Daydream and innovate freely
  • Be validated for a sense of humor

Self-esteem levels may fall when the reverse is true
