Q. I’ve been told I have self-esteem issues. Is that a brain thing?

A. In a manner of speaking, yes. Self-esteem refers to your own personal level of self-worth, the way in which you respect, honor, and value yourself. This is an important concept because, in general, you tend to treat others the way you treat yourself. I you value and esteem yourself in a balanced and healthy manner, you are much more likely to do the same for others. Since your thoughts come from your brain, you can monitor them and correct those that are inaccurate or negative.
