"I'm so glad we're doing this seminar now instead of years after we got married!"
"So am I, honey. This is wonderful stuff!" I replied.
Thus went my wife's and my conversation while in our room on a break between sessions. It was early in our marriage and we were attending The Brain Program seminar. What a blessing it was to us, both individually and as a couple!
We don't know how many times since then one or the other of us has said, "Oh, so that's why you do that!" or "No wonder you need to hear the words 'I love you' so often." The revelations were many and varied as lights went on in our heads. What a fun way to facilitate understanding the diverse ways we humans interact with each other.
We really need to accept others for who they are but we usually can't when we don't understand them. We often complain about the behaviors or others or try to change them. However, we've noticed that as we start understanding why people behave in certain ways, we become more accepting of them. Behaviors that used to annoy or even frustrate us are no tolerable, even appreciated. The individuals didn't necessarily change; our understanding and perception of them did! The Brain program has helped us to better understand ourselves as individuals and as a couple. This, in turn, has helped love and acceptance to grow stronger within our hearts, our home, and our relationships with others.
Note: Nathan and Melissa recently became parents of a bouncing baby boy and are parenting him with more understanding than would have been possible prior to their attending The Brain Program.
