I recently completed the Benziger Thinking Styles Assessment. The feedback confirmed and technically detailed what I already knew at an intuitive level. The data told me why I found it much easier and more enjoyable to work at home rather than at the plant. With an "off the charts" Frontal Right Lead, my brain configuration must be considered a handicap, not a blessing in this culture. It creates many more problems than it solves. In fact, during most of my employment years, the majority of my intellect was used in the psychological warfare that was required to survive as an employee.
An important benefit of the test is that it helped my partner to better understand my challenges and frustrations.
The results of the test did not provide me with any "all you have to do is..." solutions to my brain configuration problems. There are no "all you have to do is..." solutions to these problems and other people with a similar brain configuration will be faced with a similar set of very difficult problems to solve. However, I know that it is possible to do so. All difficult problems are fundamentally "rolodex" problems (e.g., making contact with the right people always provides the optimal path to finding a practical solution to the problem).
I am a free-lance software engineer specializing in the development of error-free software with 40 years experience. I received a B.A. in Physics from U.C Berkeley (1961). I developed my capabilities in Electronics and Software Engineering using a long-term personal experiment effort. My first experimental efforts were in electronics (Amateur Radio) and then in computer simulation and software development. As my efforts continued, I began to direct my attention to the problems that I truly care about. This included the methods of developing error-free software.
In an effort to "do my bit," I am inviting other Frontal Right males with similar interests to visit my web-site to obtain information and two experimental open-source software development tools. A good description of the results of my experimental process will be presented on the web-site and downloadable resume. The two experimental software development tools are:
- A Programmable Code Generator specifically designed to enable the development of software and software building-blocks using enforceable standard process and methods as required by the Plan-Do steps of the Deming Cycle.
- A Programmable Monte-Carlo Test System specifically designed to economically test and evaluate the capability of software and software building blocks in detecting and preventing errors as required by the Check-Analyze steps of the Deming Cycle.
Both the tools and the documents can be downloaded free-of-charge and I welcome any questions, comments, or suggestions. I am not "selling" anything other than the power of experimentation.
